Building a Better Future: The Role of ESG, Life at Work, and Health & Safety Teams at Ellard

At Ellard, transformation is a core part of our business ethos. As our Managing Director, Mark Molyneux, aptly puts it, “Transformation groups are a vital part of our ethos here at Ellard. As we give every employee a voice, we use these groups to harness the skills, abilities, and motivation of all of our people to drive the business forward.”

In this article, we will explore how three key teams—the ESG team, the Life at Work team, and the Health and Safety team—are playing pivotal roles in transforming our business.

The ESG Team: Driving Sustainability and Social Responsibility

Our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) team is at the forefront of integrating sustainable practices and social responsibility into our business model.

The team works tirelessly to ensure that Ellard not only meets but exceeds standards in sustainability and ethical governance. We understand that our operations have an impact on the environment, therefore focusing on reducing our environmental footprint, promoting social equity, and ensuring robust governance practices, the ESG team helps us build a more sustainable future.

Life at Work Team: Enhancing Employee Experience

The Life at Work team is dedicated to promoting a positive work environment and ensuring that every employee enjoys a fulfilling work-life balance. Catherine Lockett, Ellard’s Head of Human Resources, shares, "The Life at Work group has met monthly for a few years now, and its key aim is to promote good work and good life at work for all staff. The group is made up of individuals from a range of roles across the business to ensure that everybody’s voice is heard"

The Life at Work team engages in a variety of projects to enhance staff engagement and satisfaction. By encouraging members to share their opinions, concerns, and ideas, the team ensures that everyone has what they need to succeed in their roles. Notable achievements include gaining our Investors in People Silver Accreditation, building connections with our local community, developing ideas for team and charity events, and making Ellard a supportive and enjoyable place to work.

Health and Safety Team: Ensuring Workplace Safety and Well-being

The Health and Safety team at Ellard is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all employees, customers, and visitors. John Lawson, Head of Operations, explains, "The health, safety, and welfare of the whole Ellard team, our customers, and our visitors is of paramount importance to our business in addition to the general public who may be affected by the business’s activities."

This team meets monthly to review past performance, address any issues, and plan for future improvements. Comprising colleagues from every department, the team provides a comprehensive and unbiased overview of our health and safety performance. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal obligations, promoting open and transparent discussions about health, safety, and well-being, and identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.

The dedication of the Health and Safety team ensures that safety remains at the core of our company values and culture.

At Ellard, our transformation groups are more than just teams; they are the driving force behind our continuous improvement and success. By giving every employee a voice and harnessing their collective skills and motivation, we can create a dynamic and thriving business environment. Whether through promoting sustainability, enhancing employee experience, or ensuring workplace safety, these groups exemplify our commitment to excellence and our vision for the future.
