Celebrating International Women's Day: Voices from Around the Business

ree

As we approach International Women's Day, we are proud to spotlight the incredible contributions and stories of the women within our business. From leadership roles to behind-the-scenes efforts, these individuals embody the spirit of innovation, resilience, and empowerment that defines this global celebration of gender equality.

International Women's Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing journey towards gender equality. At Ellard, we recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion in fostering a supportive and equitable workplace for all. Through initiatives that amplify diverse voices and perspectives, we strive to create an environment where every individual feels valued and empowered to thrive.

This year, we wanted to capture the diverse experiences and perspectives of the women within our organisation. Our video encapsulates their stories, exploring what International Women’s Day means to them and why we must continue to recognise it. From boardrooms to workstations, we've endeavoured to showcase the myriad of roles women play in driving our company forward.

Taking a further look

“In terms of women's rights, there are a lot of women in other countries that don't have the same rights as us and I think it's really important to not just fight for our own rights, but for theirs as well.” - Sophie Harrison, Finance Manager (She/Her)

Approximately 2.4 billion women of working age are not afforded equal economic opportunity, while legal barriers in 178 countries hinder their full participation in the workforce. By recognising the shared struggles and aspirations of women worldwide, we can work towards dismantling systemic barriers and fostering a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, both personally and professionally.

“I am conscious of the fact that it is a male-dominated industry and that too is reflected at Ellard. However, at Ellard it’s actually become much more balanced, certainly in the last few years.” - Catherine Lockett, Head of HR (She/Her)

Women only make up 21% of the industry we operate in. The importance of bridging this gap cannot be overstated. Beyond the moral imperative of fairness, a diverse workforce brings a wealth of perspectives, experiences, and talents to the forefront, driving innovation and propelling growth.

As we reflect on the significance of International Women's Day, we are reminded of the collective responsibility we share in advancing gender equality and creating a more inclusive world for all. By championing diversity, fostering empowerment, and amplifying women's voices, we can create a brighter and more equitable future for generations to come.
