Choosing the Right Control Panel for Tube Motors: A Complete Comparison Guide

When it comes to installing tube motors for roller shutters for industrial installations, the control panel you choose is just as important as the motor itself.

Each control solution offers a different mix of power, safety, functionality, and transmitter capacity, and understanding these differences ensures a smoother installation and a more reliable long-term operation for your customers.

To help simplify your decision-making, we’ve broken down the key features of the four main control panels used alongside Ellard Tube Motors: Genesis, DC2, Easy Group, and Easy Fit

Genesis Control Panel

Designed for light-use tube motor applications, the Genesis panel offers a solid blend of safety, power, and user-friendly operation.

With a 230Vac power supply, 500W output, and the ability to support motors up to 140Nm, it’s ideal for light commercial window shutters. Installers benefit from a 100-transmitter memory, making it suitable for multi-user environments, along with included transmitters right out of the box.

The Genesis also incorporates a photocell-compliant safety circuit and dedicated inputs for key switches, safety brakes, and external push buttons. For simple and predictable operation, installers can choose between impulse open or deadman close, with a built-in stop-and-return function to enhance user safety.

DC2 Control Panel

For installations demanding greater control and precision, the DC2 offers a powerful feature set and robust safety integration. With a higher 1150W capacity, the DC2 supports tube motors up to 350Nm, and it delivers the performance required for heavier shutters and larger applications.

Operating on a 230Vac supply, the DC2 provides comprehensive safety support, including 24V outputs for photocells, optical and 8k2 edges. Its IP54-protected enclosure ensures durability in more challenging environments.

The DC2 allows for a plug-in radio receiver capable of storing up to 20 transmitters. Additionally, the DC2 can be paired with our TVRCM receiver when more than 20 fobs are needed and can be paired with the RBAND system for wireless safety edge.

Offering both impulse and deadman operation, the DC2 is a versatile solution for installers who need both functionality and compliance in one compact controller.

Easy Group Controller

When working with multiple tube motors on the same site, the Easy Group controller provides a simple, effective way to synchronise operation.

With the ability to control up to four tube motors, the Easy Group is powered by 230Vac, supports motors up to 140Nm, and provides 500W output. Installers can operate the system via a hard-wired control or a compatible handset, with support for up to five transmitters

This panel is ideal for scenarios where motors must operate together or be managed from a single control point, offering clean, organised operation without the need for multiple individual controllers. If you need more than four tube motors to be controlled on one site, Easy Group Controllers can also be linked together, creating a daisy chain, allowing for more tube motors to be controlled within one installation.

Easy Fit Control Panel

The Easy Fit panel, commonly known in the industry as Fitter's Mate, is built with installer convenience and adaptability at its core.

Supporting motors up to 350Nm and offering 750W output, it provides the strength needed for larger shutters and more demanding use cases.

With a 230Vac power supply and capacity for up to 30 transmitters, Installers also benefit from a programmable run time ranging from 5 to 100 seconds and a 230-volt light output to enhance visibility and safety.

A standout feature is the DIP switches, allowing motor direction changes without rewiring, saving valuable installation time. It also includes dedicated safety brake inputs, ensuring safety on site.
