Product development has been a major focus for Ellard throughout the second half of 2026, with a growing pipeline of new products designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers. From enhancing fire safety solutions to expanding our motor offering, we’ve been busy bringing new innovations to market, and there’s plenty more still to come.

October has been another important month in this journey, with two new additions to our range: the EFP1 Fire Control Panel and the ED115-500M 500 Nm Tube Motor. While serving different applications, both products reflect our continued focus on developing practical, reliable solutions for the door and shutter industry.

Introducing the EFP1 Fire Control Panel

Designed to control fire shutters in an emergency, the EFP1 Fire Control Panel provides configurable operation to suit the requirements of the installation. Whether a shutter needs to close to help contain the spread of fire or open to provide an escape route, the EFP1 can be configured to respond accordingly when a fire signal is received.

The panel activates an integrated audio/visual warning system, alerting those nearby when the fire shutter is operating. With a 100 dB sounder and a flashing warning indicator, it provides clear audible and visual alerts during activation.

Flexible programming for different applications

The EFP1 is designed with installer flexibility in mind, using simple internal DIP switches to configure key operating settings. These include the direction of operation in response to a fire signal, motor control modes and the option for the shutter to reopen automatically once the fire signal has been reset.

Installers can also select from 10 preset motor run times, ranging from 0 to 120 seconds, and 10 audio/visual warning delays, from 0 to 180 seconds, allowing the panel to be configured to suit the application.

Practical features for installation and operation

Alongside its configurable fire response, the EFP1 includes a range of features to support installation, operation and fault identification:

  • Flexible motor control: Supports dead-man and continuous-run operating configurations.

  • Simplified setup: On-board PCB buttons help installers set motor travel limits, while motor rotation correction can be made without disconnecting wires.

  • Clear status indication: Internal status LEDs and a multifunctional red front-panel indicator support diagnostics.

  • Audible fault warnings: Helps identify when a fault requires attention.

  • Emergency retract input: Provides an additional input for emergency retract functionality.

  • Remote indication: An optional repeater extension panel allows warning indication to be provided remotely.

With configurable fire-response behaviour, integrated warnings and practical setup features, the EFP1 adds a versatile control solution to Ellard’s fire shutter range.

Powering larger shutters with the ED115-500M

Launched earlier this month, the ED115-500M 500 Nm Tube Motor marks a significant addition to Ellard’s motor range, delivering an impressive 500 Nm of torque for demanding roller shutter applications. Combining high torque with thoughtful installation features and practical operational controls, it’s designed to deliver the performance required for larger, heavier-duty shutter systems.

Designed to make installation simpler

The ED115-500M features a 65 mm offset design, eliminating the need for a separate mounting bracket and helping to simplify installation. Supplied tube adaptors accommodate specified tube sizes, offering flexibility across compatible setups.

Precision and protection built in

Performance is backed by features designed to support reliable, controlled operation. Adjustable limit switches allow installers to set precise fully open and closed positions, while the integral thermal trip provides protection against overheating. A pull-engage manual override also provides an alternative means of operating the motor in the event of a power cut.

Operating on a standard 230V, 50Hz single-phase supply, the ED115-500M combines substantial torque with practical installation and control features, making it a powerful new option for demanding shutter applications.

With 500 Nm of torque at its core, the ED115-500M reinforces Ellard’s commitment to expanding its motor offering with solutions that meet the needs of installers and the applications they work with.

More to come from Ellard

The EFP1 Fire Control Panel and ED115-500M Tube Motor are just two examples of the product development activity taking place across Ellard. With further launches in the pipeline, we’re continuing to expand our offering across motors, controls and safety products to give customers more options for their applications.

October may be drawing to a close, but our product development programme is far from finished. Keep an eye on our social channels for more new product announcements in the months ahead.
